Community Solar
in Hawaii

The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative was launched in 2008 and a renewed commitment to clean energy was made in 2014. The following year legislation paved the way for community solar in Hawaii and after completion of Phase One, the program expanded to enable more residents and businesses the benefits of solar energy. Hawaii Electric customers who don’t have the option to put solar panels on their roof or property may qualify to receive credit for energy generated at a local community solar project. You’ll still receive power from Hawaii Electric, but at a savings!
